The Black Mamba was released on February 24, 2012. Using Kobe Bryant's alias Black Mamba, Rapsody turned in a sharper, shorter album predominately produced by Jamla mentor 9th Wonder, with a few songs also produced by Eric G.

One stand out song on the album is "Ballin' Hot", produced by Khrysis and featuring Tab-One, Rapsody's previous Kooley High bandmate.
